2020 Year In Review - March

March vibes in Squamish taken Friday, March 6 just a 10 minute bike ride from my place in Downtown Squamish.

March had another trip in my Jeep. Edward, William, and I went up the Mamquam FSR to check out Mulligan once again for some casual treed turns. The Jeep was great, and Mulligan was great too. I remember William whining a lot this trip, but we did have a good time and make it up to the top of Mulligan in the end.

Jeep + Faff.

Skiing down from the top of Mulligan after lunch. Weather was off and on throughout the day.

March also had the Chief finally starting to think about drying off, which means the beginning of Spring, and Summer soon after.

More March vibes in Squamish, probably taken from the Smoke Bluffs. Wednesday, March 11

Then we had probably our most ambitious ski trip of the season. Edward, William, and Jacob (skiier friend of William's who I hadn't met before,) and me went up for the mega long drive to finally check out the Duffey Lake area. We set out sights on Cayoosh since I read in the guidebook that it's not too too far, and there's a 2km long mellow ski run out, and the others liked that it starts right off the road. The scenery was epic, and the snow not amazing. Some of us made it to the top, but I did not and that's OK.

9:10 morning approach after an early morning and a long drive.

Water break.

Almost lunch time after a big slog in

The final bootpack, then hang a right at the top to get to the summit. I didn't think I'd be able to ski down this, so turned around here.

I feel like March is also where the whole COVID-19 situation really picked up. I remember going for a drive after work and the roads being empty around Squamish. The atmosphere was almost post-apocalyptic.

Out for a drive in my trusty Protege after work on a Wednesday.

By March, I already had my escape plan from Squamish sorted, and would be moving back to North Vancouver, where I currently live. These logistics were not easy, but it was really nice being able to store stuff at my parents house, and big big thank you to Esther for helping me move with her van. After a tremendous amount of cleaning, and with some help from my parents (thank you very much,) my place was ready for the new tennants to move in on time, and I got all my security deposit back.

A visit to the Malamute to look back on my home for the past 9 months in Squamish.
