2020 Year In Review - October

October mood in North Van on the 27th.

October saw my last after-work climb (but not last climb overall) of the year with Alex and Edward up another new Apron route called Read Between the Lines. We made it down just as it was starting to get dark in Squamish - around 6PM at this time of the year. This was a Wednesday.

Starting up pitch one at 4:12PM.

Alex around the corner running it out just a little on his pitch.

Really Excellent weather up there.

"Hey look this way, I've got a cool shot lined up!"

"Too late..."

Still really nice though. 6:06PM and the sun is just about outta here in Squamish

Then Alex and Frauke and I did a hike up Seymour which was quite good actually. I don't remember if we had to book or not, but I do remember Alex and I wanted to do a shortcut on way down and everyone was extremely stoked about that.[1]

I got only one photo up on Seymour and we only had like 15 minutes where we could actually look around at all. The rest of the time we were mostly in a cloud. I think the Germans got some more nice ones though.

October had more disc golf, followed by a surprise birthday party for Alex which was really nice. Usually I really don't like surprise anything, but this one worked out really well. I didn't get any photos of the get together.

Taken 6:02PM on a chilly Wednesday at Quilchena disc golf course. Disc golf courses are generally free and it is super fun!

After that was some more very chilly Squamish climbing in the Smoke Bluffs with the Germans.

October also had me passing my class 5 road test at ICBC, so I'm now a fully-fledged driver!

For Halloween we did some more climbing believe it or not. Our boulder crew (Alex F., Alex J., Frauke, and me,) went for a spooky and a little bit damp climb during the day. I remember Alex brought some really tasty treats from work which was nice, and the climbing was somewhat damp and better than expected.

Then after a pretty long day we take the easy way out and test out the excellent Smoke Bluffs trail infrastructure. Photo by Alex J.

Bonus photo: For work we had to do like an ice breaker where we take a photo of something in our apartment/living space and send it over then everyone guesses who goes with what photo. I really do wonder what my photo will look like next year.
