2020 Year In Review - September
⬅️ August | ⬆ Overview | ➡️ October
My balcony garden was doing it's thing and I made a caprese salad with tomato and basil from the garden. The tomato wasn't very good, but the salad was still really good. I did not include any Trinidad Scorpions in it.
Also early on in September, my cousin Sarah and her friend Hannah were in town on the way to a really cool sounding kayak trip on Vancouver Island. They were keen to climb, so we did a fun route up the Apron.
Then since Matteo got a #6 cam for his birthday, we finally got to try out a climb we'd been looking to do for a while - Mushy Peas. It was a really fun kinda less travelled climb with some excellent pitches, a good amount of adventure, and really really ideal weather. I also wrote up my first ever Mountain Project page for it, and that lives here: https://www.mountainproject.com/route/119579802/mushy-peas
Belaying from the 2nd last pitch of Mushy Peas. A great climb for a warm day in September since most of it stays in the shade for most of the day.
September also brought forest fire smoke up from the States which was not so good. At the absolute smokiest we couldn't see Vancouver at all across the harbour from North Van. Eventually though it started to clear, and I'm sure we'll send some back their way again in not too long.
Out for a walk on a Friday at 2PM, visibility pretty low across the harbour looking over to Downtown Vancouver.
A couple days later and it's starting to clear up. Heading up for a couple rounds of disc golf with Scott, or a bike up the Seymour Demo Forest.
Then Edward and I changed over to snow tyres on my Subaru in his garage (thanks, Edward!) We also crawled around underneath it to make sure that everything was in working order - next time I'm definitely going to do this before buying the car, but we didn't find anything too bad, just lots of rusty Subaru.
September also had another hike - this time it was Alex and Frauke and me up to Garibaldi lake. Once again we had to wake up super early to reserve our spot (thanks again Germans,) and and the hike was pretty good and we saw a bear.
And my pizza marking skills are getting a little better.
